Name: Dr. Nathaniel Essex
Code Name: Mister Sinister
Team(s): Employer of Marauders, Nasty Boys, former ally of Apocalypse, undercover in Weapon X Program and Black Womb Project.
Age: 173
Sex: Male
Height and Weight: 6'5, 285lbs
Eyes and Hair Color: Solid, pupiless scarlet. Glow very slightly in the dark, Jet-black, worn very short against his scalp
Appearance (Pics are fine):
Personality: Mister Sinister is, above all, a being of cold intellect. Freed from the constraints of mortality and morality by Apocalypse, he is consumed with hunger for knowledge. All of his energies are directed towards gathering information on, and the molding of the Homo Superior race... but to what ultimate end only he knows. He may be amoral, but he is nevertheless not a cruel creature: his every action is dictated by calculated reason, not emotion. He does not gloat, or fly into a rage, or laugh. He may smile in satisfaction, but that is the extent of his emotionality.
Sinister is a loner, a spider in the web, spinning vast and complex plans. Despite his personal abilities, he rarely takes action directly, preferring to act through intermediaries, as in the case of the Morlock Massacre. Every other being he encounters is either a tool to be used, a threat to be avoided or destroyed, or insignificant.
Powers: Known Powers: Following genetic alteration by Apocalypse, Sinister possesses a wide array of powers. Over the years, Sinister has used the genetic material of other mutants to grant himself a vast array of powers.
Cellular Shapeshifting: ability to control every molecule of his body, allowing him to assume the form of any one he wishes. He once reduced himself into a semi-liquid state.
* Regenerative Healing Factor: Mister Sinister is able to rapidly regenerate damaged or destroyed tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. Sinister can fully heal from injuries that result in massive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, puncture wounds, broken bones, and severe burns within a matter of moments.
Superhuman Stamina: Mister Sinister's muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of ordinary humans. He can exert himself at peak capacity for about 24 hours before fatigue begins to affect him.
Superhuman Strength possesses superhuman strength, which may be a product of his shapeshifting.
Superhuman Reflexes: Mister Sinister's reflexes are enhanced to levels that are beyond the human body's natural limits.
Telepathy: He can read minds and project his own thoughts into the minds of others within a radius of 250 miles (on Earth). With extreme effort he can greatly extend that radius.
* Mental Paralysis: ability to induce temporary mental or physical paralysis
* Mind Control: capable of controlling the minds of others but only one at a time and if the target is in his physical presence.
* Dilate Power: ability to mentally paralyze a foe he's touching and the ability to psionically "turn off" the superpowers of any mutant.
Telekinesis: possesses telekinetic abilities enabling him to levitate and manipulate living beings, inanimate objects, and to some extent energy, psionically. He can “lift” as much as 10 tons of weight and possibly even more and can enable himself to “fly” at great speed.
Concussive Blasts: can fire blasts of concussive force from his hands or from the dimaond-shaped scarlet mark on his forehead.
Abilities: Sinister is a genius and a geneticist of the highest order, able to predict genetic mutations and splice DNA. It is quite probable his powers are the result of self-experimentation - his shapeshifitng power is due to a procedure he performed on himself with help from a time-traveling Gambit. He can also produce large amounts of clones; he has done so with all his Marauders, and with Jean Grey. He is a master surgeon, having excised a portion of Gambit's brain, only to later restore it (although from Sinister's point of view, he restored a portion of Gambit's brain and later excised it, as Gambit was travelling back in time when the restoration was completed — possibly a predestination paradox), and a skilled mechanical engineer, having created devices that seem to have been taken from the tales of Jules Verne. He possesses a good deal of knowledge in psychology, and is a skilled manipulator.
Weapons/Equipment: He at one time possessed tissue samples of thousands of people, dating possibly as far back as the 1860s, including several American Presidents.
Many of his bases seem to have some quasi-biological properties, able to "grow" tentacles from a surface to hold a prisoner at Sinister's mental commands.
He was believed to possess the power of teleportation, but it was revealed this was not an innate ability, but a function of his tesseract headquarters.
Weaknesses: Sinister is a very tough being to kill, or even to damage. His mental powers are great, and his physical form is highly durable. Still, he does need to breathe, and extreme physical damage will make him lose control of his body, essentially killing him.
History: During the 19th Century, Nathaniel Essex encountered Apocalypse who used his technology to transform Essex into “Sinister”, the last word his dying wife ever spoke to him.
Soon after, a time displaced Gambit and Courier approached Sinister for help. Sinister agreed to help them, as long as he could have a DNA sample from Courier. This DNA sample allowed Sinister to replicate Courier shape shifting abilities, within Sinister’s own body.
By the early 20th Century, Sinister had cracked the genetic genome and was willing to share the information with Herbert Edgar Wyndham, who would later become the High Evolutionary.
During World War II, Sinister worked alongside the Nazis, collecting as many blood samples as he could. It was during this time that he first saw Sub-Mariner, and was inspired to create a clone of Namor. The clone was experiment N2 and had varied success against the original Namor but was defeated by Captain America.
Some time later, Sinister recruited Gambit to gather together the Marauders and ordered the massacre of the Morlocks. Sinister cloned Jean Grey in the form of Madelyne Pryor, so that Cyclops would have a child with her, which Sinister would view as the ultimate mutant. Ultimately, Cyclops rejected Pryor when Jean returned from stasis, and the youth would be carried to the future, where he would return to present era as Cable. Sinister's machinations would lead to the event known as Inferno, where Cyclops supposedly killed Sinister with an optic blast, although Sinister resurfaced alive and well, when he revealed that there was a third Summers brother.
Sinister was involved in Stryfe's attempted assassination of Xavier,, trading Cyclops & Jean Grey to Stryfe in exchange for their DNA. However, Stryfe actually gave Sinister the Legacy Virus, which would terrorize mutant (and eventually human) life, and lead to the deaths of several mutants.
Sinister later involved himself with Nate Grey and the mutant Threnody. He joined the reestablished Weapon X program as Doctor Robert Windsor, claiming to help mutants escape Weapon X's mutant concentration camp "Neverland," but in reality, he took them to be his test subjects.
Mister Sinister’s had a small, yet significant, presence in the divergent House of M reality. While remaining a physiologically altered geneticist, this Sinister was a quite genteel, friendly person—even to the point of offering the visiting trio of Deadpool, Cannonball and Siryn a (drugged) barbecue dinner. Sinister was apparently rejected from society for experimenting on mutants, which was taboo under Magneto’s rule, and lived on a secluded Nebraska farm. Despite the difference in personality, this Sinister was also responsible for the birth of an infant Cable, who Sinister believed was a potential savior for the world of the House of M.
Beyond a one-panel appearance in House of M: The Day After one-shot (not identified as Sinister by name, but his facial markings were unmistakable), Mister Sinister has not made his presence known. Also unknown is how his 100 years of genetic sampling reacted to the effects of the Decimation. Sinister enhanced himself with mutant DNA samples, which could have been affected by the Scarlet Witch "no more mutants" decree.
Sample Rp: Nathaniel Essex had been meditating quietly in his laboratory, gathering psychic energy in preparation for the ordeal ahead. He did not require sleep, or physical nourishment: his only method of rest was his meditation, wherein he turned his awareness inwards, into his vitals and his blood and sinew, into the very cells of his body. Like a miser continuously counting and recounting his money, he inventoried his body and practiced a constant awareness of where every single cell was placed.
Just as God noted the fall of a single sparrow, so Sinister noted the movement of a single erythrocyte.
At precisely 7:55 PM, Essex became aware of a psychic disturbance approaching rapidly. Like the screech of nails across a blackboard, or the stench of a decaying corpse, Malice's anger swept before her in an almost palpable wave. He opened his eyes and sighed resignedly. There would be more damage to clean up, thanks to another one of his associate's spectacular tantrums.
